While looking back at 2016, it wasn’t difficult to recall the photos that made me smile and pinch myself that this is my job. It was, however, difficult only choosing a few for this post. It makes me take note of the kind of images I’m most drawn to. Of course I love pretty pictures of sweet couples who are madly in love, and those are certainly in here. But I am most obsessed with the “shots between the shots,” the unscripted ones that are the most relatable.
These are the moments that make my whole year: the irritated flower girl who doesn’t want her hair curled; the black lab who insists on being part of the dress photo; the couple who can’t hold it together during portraits OR the ceremony; the dreary overcast rain that turned Grapevine into Ireland; the impromptu Nigerian money dance.
These are the moments that are so sweet but fleeting. These moments are part of your story, but they might have faded forever had they not been immortalized. Thank you to all of you who trusted me with these moments and made me part of your day. And thank all of you who are trusting me next year. You are the reason I have the best job in the universe.
