I would love to share with you this engagement session with Katie and Jordan, an absolutely delightful couple I got to photograph this 4th of July holiday. When you visit Louisiana in the summer, it’s easy to notice the obvious things that characterize the deep south: the sultry steamy air, the way your wine glass fogs up when you walk outside, and the necessity of taking two (occasionally three) showers a day. However, the aesthetics and culture of this lovely state outshine the rest. Especially now when the recent tragedy in Baton Rouge casts a grey shadow on the state, I will spotlight love. It is our most ancient and basic solution.
I could barely contain myself visiting this gorgeous property in Geismar. Although I grew up in Louisiana, I’ve lived in Dallas for sixteen years. I’m no longer accustomed to seeing trees so old they drip with moss like an old man’s beard; or that wonderful Southern Louisiana accent that in one word conjures up images of family, bonfires, football and amazing food. Throw in a sweet couple with great chemistry, and you have a recipe for a shoot so fun I barely noticed the heat. I cannot, however, speak for their dog. Sorry Gypsy!
Thank you Katie & Jordan for trusting me with this time in your lives. I cannot wait to shoot your wedding at Gabriel’s House of Events this December!
